Paraquat is a widely used herbicide and its poisoning in human induces acute renal failure, hepatic
dysfunction, progressive respiratory failure, oral cavity ulcer and cardiac manifestations with high
mortality rate.
We experienced a case of paraquat poisoning in a 12 years old child who revealed acute renal
failure, pneumothorax, subcutaneous emphysema, pneumomediastinum and died 44 hours at acciden-
